Created attachment 160058 [details] The buggy appearance of Compact View SUMMARY In an Open or Save dialog, there are three buttons on the toolbar for Icons View (text below icons, typically bigger icons), Compact View (text normally next to icons, typically small icons) and Details View. However, if I click Compact View, the dialog switches to an appearance where the file names appear below the icons (like in the Icons View), but the icons' size is as in the Compact View. This happens whether the dialog is already in Compact View mode or not. However, if I close the window in this state, and later open it again, it's in the normal Compact View mode. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open an Open or Save dialog. 2. In the toolbar, click the Compact View button. OBSERVED RESULT File names below the icons. EXPECTED RESULT File names next to the icons. While this bug doesn't cause any substantial denial of functionality, the sheer annoyance factor warrants classifying is as something bigger than "minor".

I changed it to Normal. I reported it as minor because it doesn't matter if one doesn't regularly switch between view modes (which I don't).
