STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1.  Type a string containing spaces into the display
2.  Place the cursor on a character which immediately follows a space
3.  

OBSERVED RESULT
Characters between the cursor and the next following space or EOL are no longer visible, but reappear when the cursor is moved in either direction to a space or following character

EXPECTED RESULT
All characters in the string are visible

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This behaviour appears to be confined to Konsole and Yakuake but does not affect other similar applications.
Display controller is Radeon HD 8830M.
