Description Riccardo Robecchi 2023-07-01 11:39:56 UTC
SUMMARY
The applet appears to have a different, much smaller minimum size when it is placed directly on the panel and a removable device (e.g. SD card) is attached. This means that while the minimum size when no removable devices are attached is acceptable and allows the user to read everything comfortably, attaching a removable device results in a much smaller size which hides most information. Even if the user resizes the popup when a removable device is attached, this size is not remembered.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Place the applet on the panel while no removable devices are attached
2. Open the applet
3. Connect a removable device

OBSERVED RESULT
The applet resizes to a much smaller size.

EXPECTED RESULT
The applet stays the same size.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux: KDE neon
KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.6
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.107.0
Qt Version: 5.15.10

Comment 1 Riccardo Robecchi 2023-07-30 21:29:46 UTC
One thing I noticed is that this seems to happen on my desktop computer, but not on my laptop. In both cases the widget is placed directly on the panel. The widget on my desktop has a "remove all" button on top when removable devices are attached, whereas on the laptop there is no such button. This is despite both computers running the same version of Plasma, Frameworks and Qt (now respectively 5.27.6, 5.108.0 and 5.15.10). It seems there's something wrong somewhere, but I couldn't tell neither what it is, nor where it is!

Sorry it took us so long to get to this. I can't reproduce it in current git master, which will shortly become Plasma 6.3. Are you still able to reproduce the issue in Plasma 6.2.5 or later? Thanks!
Comment 3 Riccardo Robecchi 2025-01-09 23:05:21 UTC
Thanks for your reply! I haven't yet updated any of my computers to Plasma 6; I plan to do so once 6.3 releases. I will updated this issue then.
