I appreciate the idea of KDE's built in methods of exploring community content, but it's clear to me on my end that there are some issues with the feature. For me, most of the "Get New X" panels work fine for me, but the Global Theme one in particular has some issues. For whatever reason, when sorting by "Most Downloads" in global themes and choosing a theme, I get an error like the one below. Installation of /tmp/nPanRw-Iridescent-round.tar.gz failed: Could not install dependency: 'kns://icons.knsrc/api.kde-look.org/1425426' While writing this post, I also experienced an issue where if I browsed for long enough (5-10mins), a dialogue that read "Error: Connection closed" would pop up and persist until I closed the whole application and opened it back up again. And just now I experienced an issue where I can no longer open the Global Themes menu (or any settings menu) until I restart my PC. I have a stable internet connection and am able to download new icon packs and widgets. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Use my version of the kernel and plasma shown below 2. Browse for new global themes 3. Sort by most downloads and install a theme OBSERVED RESULT Theme fails to download for whatever reason, I get "Error: Connection Closed" dialogues often, and most of the time Plasma Settings crashes upon launching after doing this. EXPECTED RESULT The theme downloads. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux: 6.1.35-1-lts (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.5 KDE Frameworks Version: will update later, about screen is crashing on launch Qt Version: will update later, about screen is crashing on launch ADDITIONAL INFORMATION I also think that some real changes need to be made to the UI of the Get New menus, such as putting a dropdown with version numbers next to the install button instead of being shown a noisy popup. Putting that aside, I hope this gives you an inside into my pain.
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.107.0 Qt Version: 5.15.10
You're not wrong, but this bug report is reporting a bunch of different issues, and that's going to make it un-actionable, I'm afraid. See https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Issue_Reporting#Multiple_issues_in_a_single_Bugzilla_ticket for more explanation. Please submit a new bug report for the "Could not install dependency" issue, another one for the "I get "Error: Connection Closed" dialogues often" issue, and a third one for "and most of the time Plasma Settings crashes upon launching after doing this" issue. Thanks a lot for your understanding!
