Description David Wu 2023-06-19 19:01:03 UTC
SUMMARY
I did a fresh install of KDE Neon on my laptop using the following ISO
neon-user-20230608-0713.iso

When I enabled the the Night Color option, the Blue light filter stays on, even in the middle of the afternoon. I even restarted the computer, and the blue light filter is still on. The blue light filter is enabled in the middle of the night, which is the expected behaviour

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Go to Settings -> Personalization -> Regional Settings -> Date & Time. Click the Time Zone tab
2. Change the following, Area: Toronto.
3. Click the Apply button
4. Go to Settings -> Hardware -> Display and Monitor -> Night Color
5. Change the following, Switching times: Sunset and sunrise at current location
6. Click the Apply button
7. Wait or turn on the computer in the morning or afternoon

OBSERVED RESULT
Blue light filter is turned on no matter what time of the day it is

EXPECTED RESULT
Blue light filter needs to be turned off between sunrise and sunset

Night Color Settings

Notice the time on the bottom right. It's displaying a time in the middle of the afternoon.
The latitude and longitude is correct for Toronto

I just noticed today that Night Light was turned off in the morning. However, it got turned back on at around 14:50.

I'm thinking the locale is being mixed up with another location besides Toronto (which is what is being set, see the image above)

Is it still a issue? And if it is please can you send the output of following commands:
> qdbus org.kde.KWin /ColorCorrect GetAll org.kde.kwin.ColorCorrect
and
> qdbus org.kde.KWin /ColorCorrect GetAll org.kde.kwin.ColorCorrect | awk '/Time/ {print $1, strftime("%T", $2)}'
