The xcb windowing system

I have a faulty usb hdd. 
I have observed that when this usb hdd disk is connected it takes time to navigate to other usb hdd disks while this is not true when this disk is not connected to the system.

I dont know if this is a bug of dolphin, linuix system... or whatever. 
However i think this must not happen to a modern system. A faulty disk must not delay the access to other disks. 

For example this does not happen in pcmanfm file browser, midnight commander
