Rhythmbox showing a song playing in the Media Player applet

SUMMARY

Virtually every media player under KDE Plasma (on desktop) will allow the Media Player applet to control its playback. This is even true for connected Bluetooth devices which are streaming music to the system. AudioTube does not allow this, however. I assume this is the same for other desktops such as GNOME which implement similar controls.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open AudioTube on any Linux distro with KDE Plasma
2. Start playing something
3. Open the Media Player taskbar applet and confirm AudioTube is not recognised

OBSERVED RESULT

AudioTube is not controllable with KDE Plasma's Media Player applet.

EXPECTED RESULT

AudioTube is well integrated with the desktop system and allows seamless control via the Media Playback applet.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows:
macOS:
Linux/KDE Plasma: 23.04.1
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.107.0
Qt Version: 5.15.9

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Controlling playing media this way should be desktop-independent, for example, other music players also allow playback control in a headless environment, such as 'playerctl' on a terminal. AudioTube is understandably a mobile-focused program, however I think it works extremely well as a music player also on desktop, and features such as this should be considered.
