Created attachment 159539 [details] Photo of vertical monitor. SUMMARY I just updated my system this week. When I use the rectangular selection of Spectacle on my vertically orientated monitor it snaps the wrong dimensions. The monitor is 2560x1440 and the picture that it shows appears to be a resolution of 1440x1440. It's letter boxed and centered. See attached photo. When I move the cursor into the black regions the overlay disappears. On my other two monitors in a horizontal orientation, same resolution, it's fine. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Orientate a monitor vertically 2. Start a rectangular snapshot from either the CLI or GUI SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: Arch Linux (LTS kernel) on X11 (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.106.0 Qt Version: 5.15.9
Just more information regarding this. I recently upgraded my main monitor at home to a 1440p display. The secondary one is still 1080p. I just tried to use Spectacle today and it also exhibits the same issue. When taking a selection on the 1080p monitor I can see the whole display to make the selection, but when I take a selection on the 1440p display the I am given a 1080p box in the center of the screen and I cannot see the entire screen to make the selection. Therefore it seems like this issue is related to systems with multiple monitors that have unmatched resolutions. My home machine is currently on: KDE 5.27.7 KDE Frameworks 5.109.0 Qt 5.15.10 Kernel 6.4.11 X11
Can't reproduce on Wayland in the Plasma 6.5 version. On X11 I;m afraid all bets are off when it comes to fancy screen stuff.
