STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1.  open selection mode
2.  press del

Unable to reproduce this using Dolphin 23.08.1. On pressing del in selection mode without any file selected, Dolphin displays a message at the bottom asking to 'Select the files and folder that should be moved to the Trash'. There is no crash. 

Could you please confirm if this bug still exists?
