Description Mario Awad 2023-05-27 07:28:41 UTC
The latest version of System Monitor 5.27.5 running on KDE neon 5.27 with all updates installed no longer has the download and upload columns available when trying to add new columns to the processes or applications tables. In previous versions this was available out of the box.

Nothing has been changed as far as the network columns go, from what I can tell. This is most likely some kind of Neon-specific issue, because on my machine I still have the Upload/Download columns (5.27.5, Arch Linux).

Can you run plasma-systemmonitor from the commandline and see if get any useful logs, with anything containing "org.kde.ksysguard.plugin.network" or "/usr/lib/ksysguard/ksgrd_network_helper"? I'm guessing that it's failing for some reason, or the binary is just missing.
Comment 2 Mario Awad 2023-05-29 09:31:33 UTC
Running plasma-systemmonitor from the terminal I notice:
Could not find attribute "netInbound"
Could not find attribute "netOutbound"

I even tried on a fresh install of KDE Neon in a VM and still get the above when flipping through the pages of system monitor.

The dir /usr/lib/ksysguard/ does not exist for me but libs are probably elsewhere cause everything works great except the upload/download columns. Note that I can see the overall download and upload speeds graph in the history page but in the application and processes tables I cannot add the download and upload columns.

Any ideas how to fix this or how to look further into it please? Thank you!

Thank you for the bug report. Because many changes have occurred in the code since this issue was reported, can we ask you to please check if this is still an issue with Plasma 6.3.5?

Just checked on Debian 13 Trixie which has Plasma 6.3.4 and the issue is already resolved there.

Pretty sure would be resolved as well on KDE neon on 6.3.5 or later.

Thank you for all your help and support.
