Description adrian 2023-05-12 09:27:29 UTC
SUMMARY

When playing audio from a plasma session with pulse/pipewire from any source, network audio playback will stop when the mouse hovers over a task entry in the Task Manager (causing a thumbnail of the window to appear). This only happens for network sinks.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Set up audio over a pulseaudio network sink and play some audio.
2. Hover over a task manager entry.

OBSERVED RESULT
Sound stops and doesn't resume playing until mouse is moved away.

EXPECTED RESULT
Sound keeps playing.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Gentoo 6.2.12-gentoo #2 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC
KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.4 on wayland
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.105.0
Qt Version: 5.15.9

Well that's extremely odd!

I concur, it's very bizarre behaviour, but quite distracting when you work with some music. Maybe to add to the oddness: The only tab where this doesn't happen is the music player (audacious in this case). There are no warnings/errors in dmesg or syslog either, so I'm a bit at a loss at what to report exactly. Please let me know if you can think of something specific.

Are you still able to reproduce this issue in Plasma 6.2.5 or later?
Comment 4 adrian 2025-01-13 08:17:51 UTC
Thanks for checking in. I don't seem to be able to reproduce this on a current 6.2.5 + pipewire 1.2.7.
