SUMMARY
Kate's automatic theme does not follow the selected text color
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. choose an accent color 
2. open kate and select some text

OBSERVED RESULT vs EXPECTED RESULT
selection text color is #2d5c76 instead of following the color scheme, as other applications do.
going in kate > settings > configure kate > Colour Themes > Theme editor and select (after creating a new theme as default themes cannot be edited) "use default colors" it always sets #2d5c76.

Yes, we use our own color theme for the editor area.
