STEPS TO REPRODUCE see the attached video OBSERVED RESULT A duplicated part of the right screen on the preview UI of the Rectangular Region selection EXPECTED RESULT no duplicated part of the right screen on the preview UI SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: Y KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.105.0 Qt Version: 5.15.9
STEPS TO REPRODUCE see the attached video https://objectstorage.us-phoenix-1.oraclecloud.com/n/axs1xyqscjf6/b/bucket-oss/o/KDE%2Fbug-report%2F2023-05-09_11-59-47.mp4
I have a similar issue in the latest Spectacle (version 23.04.1). A further inspection indicates that this is probably related to the monitor position. In the attachment is the same issue happening on my desktop. The duplicated artifact would always shift toward the top left corner (position 0,0). Video of the issue: https://nextcloud.stw.tw/s/9X98wdzkaExg7Qk Here is my system spec: OS: EndeavourOS KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.5 KDE Framework Version: 5.105.0 Qt Version: 5.15.9 Kernel Version: 6.3.1-arch2-1 (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland
Weird, cannot reproduce on Wayland with a screen arrangement that is identical with the only difference being that the laptop's internal screen is 4k, and the external one is 1080p. I've arranged them in the same relative positions based on resolution to simulate your setup, though.
I just built Spectacle from the git repo, and the git version doesn't seem to have this issue. Maybe this was fixed after the 23.04.1 release? ihipop, can you try the git version and see if the issue persists?
Yes, quite possible. Let's call it fixed for now, until and unless it shows up again.

(In reply to Ilya Bizyaev from comment #7) > > *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 462860 *** I don't think they are duplicated. Have you viewed the video that I have uploaded before? https://objectstorage.us-phoenix-1.oraclecloud.com/n/axs1xyqscjf6/b/bucket-oss/o/KDE%2Fbug-report%2F2023-05-09_11-59-47.mp4 this problem happens on the screen without fractional scaling
Then maybe the cause is broader and the title needs to be updated, but the symptoms are the same
Looking at the video, one of the screens has 125% scaling, which is fractional
