SUMMARY Since the upgrade to 23.04.0, the record screen feature is missing. I would like to know if it was intended. I know I can open directly peek, obs or whatever application I like directly by other means, but it was a good way to let the users know cools applications for screen recording. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open spectacle OBSERVED RESULT No button to screen recording methods are shown. EXPECTED RESULT A dropdown menu like "Export" with screen recording options should be shown, like the old GUI SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: Archlinux 6.2.13-arch1-1 (64 bits) (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.105.0 Qt Version: 5.15.9 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
In the 23.04 version, Spectacle grew its own screen recording feature in the app itself when run on Wayland. On X11, this feature unfortunately isn't available. The fact that on X11, Spectacle no longer advertises 3rd-party screen recording apps is intentional. We were trying to declutter the GUI.

Oh, well, I tried Wayland in the past and I had quite a few issues with plasma, so I stayed in X11, which is also fully compatible with steam. I'm not a hardcore gamer, but I don't even shutdown the computer at night, so closing the session on Wayland to re-open it on X11 just to play would be an annoyance. I could try again plasma with Wayland to see how well it behaves. Ok, thank you for the info, Nate.
You could make a request for recording on X11. It would be nice to have, but wasn't a priority for 23.04 partly due to the lack of time to implement it.
