When hovering the cursor close to a window border or title bar the cursor shadow becomes thicker.
I attached a video showing the bug. This happens on wayland session.

What kind of GPU are you using?

This most likely is related to software cursors (KWIN_FORCE_SW_CURSOR=1). I can reproduce this by hovering over his attachment link in comment #1 within Firefox.

Setting or unsetting that variable does nothing in my case.

NVidia GPUs always get a software cursor on kwin_wayland, due to some missing capabilities with OpenGL on NVidia hardware. So it always happening on NVidia, and only happening with the environment variable set on AMD makes sense.

I myself don't see the issue with a forced software cursor though, on both 5.27.6 and git master. Is this effect tied to some specific cursor themes, or does it always happen for you? Also, are you using display scaling?
