I'm not using the laptop's internal display when connecting to an external display, so that one is turned off.
Comment 1 Nate Graham 2023-04-28 20:49:29 UTC
Are you using the "remember settings per display arrangement" setting on the Display Configuration page in System Settings?

Can you paste the output of `kscreen-doctor -o` twice: once after you set the correct resolutions, and again after you reboot and they've gotten scrambled up?
Comment 2 fw.smit01 2023-04-29 10:28:11 UTC
> Are you using the "remember settings per display arrangement" setting on the Display Configuration page in System Settings?

I'm using "For any display arrangement" in the settings. But it doesn't sound like that should make all HDMI display settings the same. Is this intended behavior?

Correct, it shouldn't.

When this is happening, can you paste the output of running `kscreen-doctor -o` in a terminal window?

Comment 6 fw.smit01 2023-06-03 10:47:31 UTC
I'm happy to report that I cannot reproduce this issue with a 1080p and 1440p external monitor I have here. So I'll close this issue. If I see it happening again, I'll report back
Comment 7 fw.smit01 2023-06-15 19:00:30 UTC
I happened again. I didn't change any configuration, but now my 1440p monitor is outputting at 1080. Below is the kscreen-doctor -o output of the monitor in the wrong resolution.

Comment 8 fw.smit01 2023-06-21 11:25:17 UTC
It occurred again. It seems that it happens when I connect to a 1080p display that my laptop has not seen before. But that's just a guess.
Comment 9 Nate Graham 2023-06-22 10:50:15 UTC
Thanks for the info. Is it happening on Wayland too? Or only on X11?
Comment 10 fw.smit01 2023-06-22 15:12:36 UTC
I've experienced this both on wayland and X11
