STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open, say, 35 xterm (or whatever, but that's my use case) windows. In my case, I have 6 virtual desktops, with the windows distributed in various ways among them.
2. Set Appearance/Show small window previews when hovering over Tasks
3. Hover over the XTerm task in the task manager

OBSERVED RESULT

I have a 4K screen, but only maybe a dozen or so of the previews show up in the horizontal list at the bottom of the screen. There's no way to scroll left and right, so if there's a minimized one somewhere, I have no easy way to find it. That strip of previews pops down rather quickly, in any event.

EXPECTED RESULT

Some kind of scrollable strip that I can search through to find the window I want, and perhaps also an option to limit the size of the previews, although they are useful.

Yes, this is a rather cluttered way of working, but it's how I like to work...

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Comment 1 Nate Graham 2023-04-22 02:41:14 UTC
If you position the mouse over one of them and hold down wither the Shift or Alt key and then scroll, does the list scroll?
Comment 2 rlk 2023-04-22 15:21:07 UTC
Shift doesn't work, but alt does (and there's also a scrollbar, which I somehow missed).
Comment 3 rlk 2023-04-22 15:22:53 UTC
Note that they're not sorted in any obvious order (by number, or by desktop).
Comment 4 Nate Graham 2023-04-24 16:54:27 UTC
Ok, so the real problem here is that a vertical scroll doesn't scroll the view when it's only horizontally scrollable, which makes this bug report a duplicate of Bug 448504.

If you'd like to follow up on other things, such as the order not being clear, please submit additional bug reports. I believe windows are supported to be order by the order with which they were opened FWIW.
