Description Cygni X 2023-04-21 15:47:02 UTC
SUMMARY
***
Amarok will only continue to play tracks on a play list when track progression is set to standard or the tracks are queued. If track progression is set to random, it only plays one or two tracks, and then stops.
***

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Add a playlist.
2. Set track progress to random tracks
3. Play a track

OBSERVED RESULT
Amarok plays one or two tracks and stops playing

EXPECTED RESULT
Amarok should continue to play tracks randomly indefinitely

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: openSUSE Tumbleweed 20230420
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.105.0
Qt Version: 5.15.8
Comment 1 Andreas Hurka 2023-05-15 10:26:53 UTC
(Also on tumbleweed)
To add to the observed behavior:
When progression stops working, there is no next track displayed on the top. However, with a seemingly random amount of skipping to the next track e.g. by keyboard shortcut, one can get to another track.
[It feels like there are more tracks in the random pool than are available, resulting in a large number of non existent tracks being queued.]

Some possibly related fixes landed in 2.9.82. Can you verify if this still happens with 2.9.82?

I'm somewhat confident this was fixed by https://invent.kde.org/multimedia/amarok/-/merge_requests/31 so I'm closing this, but please do not hesitate to reopen if you still encounter this with 2.9.82 or later.
