SUMMARY *** NOTE: If you are reporting a crash, please try to attach a backtrace with debug symbols. See https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports *** STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Creating two rows of virtual desktops 2. Using Desktop Grid effect OBSERVED RESULT The animation is extremely slow of this effect in particular. Observer works fine albeit slightly slow as well, but nowhere close to as laggy as Grid EXPECTED RESULT Before I installed Linux I had used Ubuntu 22.04 and used the feature there and it was extremely fast then. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows: macOS: Linux/KDE Plasma: (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: KDE Frameworks Version: Qt Version: ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Can you be more specific about what exactly is slow? Is the opening/closing animation? And is it slow, or is it choppy? Or both?
(In reply to Nate Graham from comment #1) > Can you be more specific about what exactly is slow? Is the opening/closing > animation? And is it slow, or is it choppy? Or both? https://imgur.com/a/EVP3icF I made a video. First, I use the overview function to show that it works... okay-ish. It works better than how it did on Kubuntu 22.04. Afterwards, I show Grid and it works a lot worse and is extremely choppy, even though it worked fine in Kubuntu 22.04. It might have something to do with some transparency options. Edit: I actually realized that this is an issue with the Lightly Plasma theme, not with Kwin. When I change the theme to Breeze it works flawlessly again. Although it is strange considering I used Lightly Plasma in Kubuntu as well and it was fine there, this is probably not an issue with Plasma itself but rather with the custom theme breaking it. Oh ok, cool!
