SUMMARY Would appreciate a small history window that could be added showing editing history (GIMP and Pinta have that). On top of that, it would be nice if it worked in a way that one could go back, try something out and then maybe go back to where they were before going back initially. Could be achieved with a tree view or some kind of save points the user could create. Export of editing history could be another option.
There are those GUI elements for forward and backwards that display arrows and they each have a drop-down which displays some history but it is kinda confusing. I would want a single window.
You probably want to use a version control system instead, if you need this kind of complexity (going back/forth to save-point). For the undo history, what is confusing? Or do you simply suggest it would be better to also see an image at that point in time (like gimp does) ?
Yeah, I guess something inspired by a control system could work or literally some clever integration of git in the history. The confusing part about the history is that there are two buttons (forward and backwards) and they both show different entries (one backwards history and one forwards history). If there was a single element with one history (above everything previously and below everything new) it would be clearer imo. Adding a image preview like GIMP has it would indeed be nice as well.
