It was sent using the Matrix API but I got no message saying the message 
sent was invalid JSON as I usually do if there's some issue with the text.

The json is fine, i think the html is malformed, though. there should be quotation marks around the href value

Thanks, I've done some testing and I think I've got it sorted out, with escaping and multiple quoting and all sorts of lovely fun!
