Description Dav 2023-04-07 08:44:00 UTC
SUMMARY
***
The displayed date of my CR2 files in google photos is not the one displayed in Digikam.
The CR2 have been generated by a 6D mark II.
Additionally, the timezone is not displayed in G photos (it is in my screenshot because I set it manually).
Ex:
- Date displayed in Digikam: https://snipboard.io/FmsBga.jpg
- Date displayed in Google photos for the same file: https://snipboard.io/1Xu9iN.jpg

This problem only occurs with only my CR2 files: with DNG files or JPG coming from Samsung cameras, the dates are well set.

***

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Takes photos with a Canon 6D mark II
2. Upload them in google photos with Digikam 7.10
3. Check that the created date in Digikam does not match the date displayed in google photos

OBSERVED RESULT
The date in google photo does not match the date in digikam.

EXPECTED RESULT
Same date.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

I cannot reproduce the problem with the camera using a sample image from the web. Both uploaded as original RAW and resized as JPG, the date and camera information is correct.

We only transfer a possible image title to the upload, all other metadata is retrieved by Google itself from the image. Therefore, the problem will not be digiKam.

Please provide a sample image showing the problem, if not public to my email.

Hello,

I've uploaded more than 400 pictures in the past two weeks and ALL of them didn't have the timezone set and had the estimated location" location.
So there might be a problem.
This is the first time I encounter this issue since I use Digikam. My previous CR2 upload lasted for months now ( and I didn't have any problem). The only thing which change since, is I subscribed to a Google one account. Could it be related?
Happy to share with you privately some CR2 which have the problem.
Kind regards

Hello Maik,

sorry for this late answer: I thought I answered you previously.
Do you have a way to share with you RAW images and screenshots? I don't want to post them publicly.
Any email to my KDE email account would be fine, though.
