At https://apps.kde.org/spectacle/, the link under "Get it from the Snap store" leads to https://snapcraft.io/spectacle, which is a 404. Side note, how do I get the latest version into my Kubuntu 22.04? It ships with 21.12.3, and if I click "Install on Linux" on that page, I land in Discover, which shows that version installed, not any of the v22 ones I see on the page, or v23 that I see in this bug tracker. Not having the latest version makes it dubious to report bugs.
It looks like Spectacle is not in fact on the Snap store, so the link on the website is wrong. I don't see that we're setting a link for this in Spectacle's AppStream metadata file, so it's more likely to be a website bug. Moving there. > Side note, how do I get the latest version into my Kubuntu 22.04? You can get it from Snap or Flatpak if it's available there, or you can compile it from source. Other than those options, you can't. In general, if your preference is to be using up-to-date software, LTS Kubuntu releases aren't the best option.
It is because I removed the snap ( couldn't do security updates on that version ) I am working on the new version and this will be resolved when it is uploaded. So taking this.
> In general, if your preference is to be using up-to-date software, LTS Kubuntu releases aren't the best option. I've hopped to Fedora 37. Spectacle is at 22.12.3.
Yep, that's the latest released version. The upcoming 23.04 version is due for release later this month; see https://community.kde.org/Schedules/KDE_Gear_23.04_Schedule#Thursday,_April_20,_2023:_23.04_Release.
