Missing mathematical symbols in pdf produced with Acrobat Distiller 4.0 for Windows; PDF version 1.6

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open the pdf
2. Scroll to page 17 or 5.
3. Look for empty space between two symbols.

OBSERVED RESULT
The XOR symbol is not visible.

EXPECTED RESULT
The XOR symbol should be visible.
