OBSERVED RESULT EXPECTED RESULT SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows: macOS: Linux/KDE Plasma: (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: KDE Frameworks Version: Qt Version: ADDITIONAL INFORMATION As I am a longtime digiKam user, I have gotten used to it and ignore the situation; however, I believe one of the main stumbling blocks to digiKam beginners and which may be cause for many giving up in confusion is the use of the names "Collection" and "Album"; both of which are simple plain old Folders or Directories, depending on your preference. Instead of "Manage Collections" , "Add a Collection" and what not, and then whatever Collection is added is then found as an "Album" in the Albums tree, I believe it would benefit potential new users if both "Collections" and "Albums" were simply called what they actually are = Folders or Directories. It is just an idea - thanks for considering it.
The documentation is clear about this terminologies. All is explained in this section of the online documentation. There is nothingg to adjust everywhere in the application and the documentation. https://docs.digikam.org/fr/setup_application/collections_settings.html The user must read the doc as usual, before to use a software. We spare a lots of time to write and maintains a complete manual. Gilles Caulier
