Description painless roaster 2023-04-02 08:29:44 UTC
Flashing of the contents of GTK modal dialogs (e.g. messageboxes, opensave dialogs., parameters dialogs etc) if 'breeze' window decoration is enabled.

Only the window background around widgets seems to flash. The flickering does not always occur, but about a third of the time when windows are open.

If the 'oxygen' decoration is enabled, the flickering stops. Flickering in 'breeze' does not occur if the compositor is turned off. Only GTK modal dialogs flash.

I'm just now realizing the connection. It seems that the flickering only occurs if I have specified in the color definition that the color of the active header is the same as the background color of the window.

I have a suggestion: the Breeze decoration actively modifies the color scheme of the open windows. There is an attempt to apply the header color to the menu and tabbar content. That feature should probably be suppressed if the header color is the same as the background color.

Can you clarify what exactl set of settings triggers the bug, and verify that other settings don't? If a particular color scheme file can trigger the bug, can you attach it? It should live in ~/.local/share/color-schemes/

So I was wrong. Adjusting the color scheme doesn't solve the problem. For now, the solution seems to be to use the 'oxygen' decoration instead of 'breeze'.
I remind you that only the modal dialogs of gtk applications are causing the problem.
