Namedays would be a nice optional thing to see in the calendar applet

What's a name day?

[does some web searching]

yes, altough it's not (or very loosely) connected to religion nowadays

Ok, thanks. So can you describe what "support name days" means to you? How would we support them? What would this look like?

When you have plugins enabled and the left side shows event, there could be a row that tells you "Name day of {}". The best solution would be to show event indicators (possibly in Kalendar too) where the name day matches (includes) one of your contacts' name. So like astronomical events show indicator dots.

But how would it work? Can you sketch it out in more detail?

Like, are you envisioning that it would scan one's contact list, match contacts' names with a database (where?) or mappings of names to name days, and display those in the calendar?

What if one has a lot of contacts; do you think it would get cluttered?

Also, where would the contacts be read from?

No response and implementation details seem unclear and challenging. I think this will have to be a 3rd-party plugin opportunity.
