First of all, a must-read: https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2003/04/finder/

During the last decade and more, browser-like file browser navigation has become the norm. But there are still folks, that cannot work effectively with this type of navigation. To accommodate these folks' workflows, Dolphin and Plasma Shell could use a "Spatial Mode". Maybe a System Settings entry can both toggle settings for these two applications.

In this mode:

1. A specific folder can only be open in one instance and at its specific location
2. Dolphin menus and the Plasma Desktop should provide spatial access to all devices and network locations
3. The Desktop contents should not be available in a separate Dolphin window, except the file pickers
4. Dolphin windows will not accommodate any type of location bar. For accessing these locations, see 2

We don't intend to add that.
