SUMMARY *** NOTE: If you are reporting a crash, please try to attach a backtrace with debug symbols. See https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports *** If Plasma is configured to automatically connect to a network which has a captive portal when a user launches a wayland session plasma breaks. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. set up your wifi to use a captive portal 2. set that network as default in system settings 3. relog in to your session OBSERVED RESULT the bottom panel goes away then reappears repeatedly until eventually it doesnt come back and the windows begin drawing behind them as they get dragged around EXPECTED RESULT a notification should appear asking the user to log in and all should proceed as normal. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: OpenSuse TW/linux 6.2.2 (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.2 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.103.0 Qt Version: 5.15.8 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION I have an rx 6800xt gpu, and a MediaTek MT7922 wifi card. The network is Wifi 6. An eero router is in use which means the 2.4g and 5g bands use the same ssid.
Sounds like plasmashell is crashing in a loop. And if something crashed, we need a backtrace of it so we can figure out what's going on. Can you please attach a backtrace of the crash using the `coredumpctl` command-line program, as detailed in https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports#Retrieving_a_backtrace_using_coredumpctl? Thanks!

It does not appear to have been crashing, no plasmashell or even plasma related crashes are found around the time this occurs. As such i cannot attach a backtrace. i should have specified this in my initial report.
Hmm, so it launches and then terminates immediately without crashing? That's weird. Can you do this in a terminal window? killall -9 plasmashell kstart5 plasmashell Then when it quits, paste the output in the terminal window?

I got this bug again, however i was unable to open a terminal window as none of the plasma stuff worked. attempting to kill plasmashell in a tty did not work as plasmashell was not running. i loaded an x11 session for the first time on this computor and added konsole to autostart so i could not have this issue, but it now no longer happens. it also did not happen when i loaded the x11 session.
