Description Alessio Bettarello 2023-03-06 19:32:54 UTC
SUMMARY
The application suggests using the right index finger to type a "b" (in my case the Italian classic layout) letter but using ergonomic keyboards makes it physically impossible plus it vanishes the benefits of an ergo-keyboard.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Get an ergonomic keyboard with a QWERTY layout (Perix or MS/Logitech models with 2 key islands, the layout is the same since the 90ies, mine is an MS natural keyboard v1)
2. Open kTouch and start a random lesson that involves the use of the left hand

OBSERVED RESULT
The background colour (pink) of the "b" key in the coloured finger's suggestion scheme (lower part of the app), it's the same as the "y", "u", "h", "j", etc. so it suggests pressing the key with the right index finger.

EXPECTED RESULT
The background of the "b" key is the same of "r","t","f","g","v" (yellow)

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
To solve the problem you might export and re-import the keyboard editing the "b" key then export the lessons. Then edit the XML file changing the keyboard layout code to the new "ergo" one, and import again the XML and then you will see the right colour: too mechanic for my tastes.
