Description Ed Tomlinson 2023-03-06 17:00:23 UTC
SUMMARY

Open a new tab in konsole causes pipewire-pulse to stop and start. This either pauses or stops video playback from chrome etc.

NOTE: If you are reporting a crash, please try to attach a backtrace with debug symbols.

***

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Start a video playing in Chromium/Brave etc
2. Open a new tab in konsole

I've also noticed this happening when mkinitcpio runs

OBSERVED RESULT

"journalctl --user -u pipewire-pulse -f" show pipewire pulseautio stopping, stopped and starting. The video will pause or stop playing.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows:
macOS:
Linux/KDE Plasma: Up To Date Arch install (as of March 6th) with kernel 6.2.2
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.2
KDE Frameworks Version: 22.12.3

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

I am using Wayland. Looking back in my logs it looks like this started happening after 5.27-1 was installed. I'd have selected kpipewire as the component if it was selectable... There have been reports on pipewire git issues: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/pipewire/pipewire/-/issues/3070
