ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Comment 1 Rick Smegal 2023-04-06 02:57:27 UTC
The above error no longer occurred following installation of the package marble-qt.
Comment 2 Torsten Rahn 2023-04-07 19:56:54 UTC
So does the issue still occur with "marble" but not with "marble-qt" ?
Comment 3 Rick Smegal 2023-04-07 20:09:07 UTC
How does one execute marble with the marble-qt front end installed? The
only executable I see is: /usr/bin/marble-qt

Yes, marble-qt is the executable that is the version which has technically no KDE dependency.
If there was a version /usr/bin/marble as well then this would be the KDE version.

Both should work equally well without crashing. Personally I don't see any crashes when working with marble-qt.
Comment 6 Rick Smegal 2023-04-08 21:17:39 UTC
Here is some final clarification detail. When I originally installed
marble with opensuse YaST, the marble version was used, NOT the
marble-qt front end; this is the situation with crashes. Later, I
noticed that there was a marble-qt version which I then installed with
YaST; this fixed the crash upon exit.
In case you don't have the information, I am using KDE plasma Version
5.24.4 and KDE Frameworks Version 5.90.0.
