SUMMARY STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. login 2. logout 3. confirm logout OBSERVED RESULT logout menu appears ( restart, shutdown etc. ) When logout is confirmed the screen is cleared System is now unresponsive with exception of X11 where the cursor can be moved EXPECTED RESULT After confirming logout the manufacturer's logo should appear briefly The screen should clear for a few seconds and the greeter should appear SOFTWARE/OS VERSION Linux/KDE Plasma: Fedora 37, KDE spin (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.27 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.103 Qt Version: 5.15.8 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Fails with either wayland or X11. With X11 the cursor can move. With wayland there is no cursor. Touching the power button shuts down the system. Touch again and machine boots.
I can confirm this on Fedora 37 with plasma desktop 5.27.1 and plasma 5.103. On systems using nvidia drivers the hang occurs but the keybaord/mouse is still functional in the sense that ctrl+alt+backspace restarts X11 to new sddm login screen. On systems not using nvidia drivers (intel HD graphics on Lenovo laptop) the keyboard also dies and only the mouse moves on a black screen. Hard power on/off is required to restart.
PS: I am not sure this is kscreenlocker issue or not. Screen lock is working fine. This has been confirmed on multiple workstations and laptops.
The latest sddm git build for Fedora 37 resolved this problem...should be coming up in updates.
