Clicking on a .desktop file from  applications:/  opens in text editor instead of executing
Occurs in folderview plasmoid / konqueror / dolphin


STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
1. Open one of the above mentioned applications / widgets
2. Set the path to applications:/
3. Navigate to desired application
4. Click on application

OBSERVED RESULT:
Desktop file is opened in text editor


EXPECTED RESULT
Desktop file should be executed


SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Various *buntus, including Neon, fresh installs

Linux/KDE Plasma: 
KDE Plasma Version: 5.25 / 5.26 / 5.27
KDE Frameworks Version: Whatever was current since 5.25
Qt Version: Whatever was current since 5.25

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Have tried different settings under Konqueror/Dolphin->Preferences->General->Confirmations, makes no difference
Tried copying older folderview plasmoid from (working) 5.24 to test, but it doesn't run correctly
