SUMMARY The new Discover update More Information button gives too much information for a quick inspection of packages to install, especially with a large number of packages to update where you only get the names of a few packages in the window before having to scroll. I believe the old way, showing a simple list of package names, was much easier to get a quick overview. I think the old way of displaying the package names with current and new version was much easier to get an overview of what is being updated. Something I also think would be more helpful is that when a package was clicked it would show the package information including, not only the release notes but the package description as well as the package description. The package description is something I've been wanting displayed for quite some time. As it stands now, if I see an unfamiliar package I, I have to fire up Synaptic or Google it to find out what it actually is. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. 2. 3. The old way scaled extremely poorly and caused the expanded list item to take up an enormous amount of space. Because it reacted to hover, it also constituted a large area that would flicker and annoy people. I think we're going to stay with the current design, sorry.

This new layout is ugly, takes way more space vertically than the old, and, with each application taking up five or six lines, is very inconvenient to scroll through to see what's going to be updated. It's your program, though, do what you want. I'll use it to get notified of updates, then use Synaptic or Muon to do the update, so I can more clearly see what's being updated.
Hmm, perhaps I could add a feature to hide the changelogs and only show the packages on the "More Information" page. Would that help?
That should make it a bit better, as long as it's possible to toggle the info on each package by clicking on it, rather than showing info for all or none. It would also be nice to display the description of the package along with all the current info.

That would be great. I don't mind the package list only being shown when you click something, and I do like the fact you can get the full info if you need it. But also having a middle ground between "full info of every package with changes" and "nothing" would be great.

Just used the new Discover for a system update, Nate, and it looks great. Offers a quick overview of what's being installed, and the more information gives the package info, so we know what's being installed. Great work!.
