STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. In Kickoff, add an app to Favorites. 2. In Favorites, right click on that app, Edit. 3. Do some edit, e.g., add an environment variable. 4. Close the dialog. 5. Click on that app. OBSERVED RESULT Nothing happens. EXPECTED RESULT The app launches. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.0 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.103.0 Qt Version: 5.15.8
I guess this is due to editing an app creates a new .desktop file in ~/.local/share/applications, while Favorites still points to the old location?
Confirmed. Only happens on newly favourited apps. The defaults can be edited without any issues.
Can reproduce. Restarting plasmashell makes the issue stop happening.

Still an issue on Plasma 6. Operating System: Arch Linux KDE Plasma Version: 6.0.2 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.0.0 Qt Version: 6.6.2 Graphics Platform: Wayland
This is fixed in Plasma 6.3.0 with the change to use KMenuEdit instead of the properties dialog.
