Description mahikeulbody 2023-02-16 17:19:52 UTC
SUMMARY
Description panel and Tag panel are writable and we can apply it to a selected photos without to have to use a template. It would be nice to be able to do the same with the Information panel or, at least, the fields related to Location. It is a little bit strange (and tedious) to have to create a template to write metadata rather specific to a subset of photos and which are not necessarily intended to be reused (at contrary of Rights or Contacts).

Another hint, with the geolocation tool in digiKam-8.0.0 it is possible to fill out these fields automatically via the reverse geocoding tool. Hence my question about the assignment of the OpenStreetMap fields. I'll make some adjustments here today.

It will be a powerful new feature !
I just tried it and it fulfilled only the country.

You have to add all OpenStreetMap elements in the tags tree (right mouse button menu) If you don't intend to write regular location tags as well, the position in the tags tree is not so important.

I am not sure to understand. I checked only "Write locations metadata", not "Write locations as tag".

Ok, I should read the doc before to ask something may be already documented... Sorry.

Reading the doc, things are much better :-)
That runs very well ! I like this new feature, it a very great job, with a nice UI.
(except for sublocation still fulfilled by county but it is normal, I will wait the next beta).
