SUMMARY *** Trying to open an attached pdf file in an email does not work. An "Open with" window is shown, but is only containing apps from Kontact itself. The only way to open the attachment is to download it and access it from a file manager or pdf viewer. If there is any info needed, just ask, I am new to this. I am using Fedora Kinoite. *** STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open an email 2. Click attached pdf file or right click and select open with OBSERVED RESULT Nothing happens / no applications are shown EXPECTED RESULT Okular opening SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: Fedora Kinoite KDE Plasma Version: 5.26.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.102.0 Qt Version: 5.15.8 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Kontact installed as flatpak. IT works fine. but I can test only on linux directly no flatpak Perhaps it's a problem in kde flatpak support
Yes, it's only a problem when installed in flatpak. I filed a bug report over there aswell, link is in the description. They wished that I also open here!
Can confirm. In fact, the clickable attachment text at the top of the email (next to to, from, date), when clicked, shows this "Open With" window containing only Kontact apps, whereas the bottom section that is especially made for attachments simply doesn't do anything when clicked. Is KMail doing anything different than what's mentioned in https://docs.flatpak.org/en/latest/portals.html#portal-support-in-qt-and-kde ?
