Description Scott 2023-02-07 04:32:31 UTC
SUMMARY
***
In the case of the band ACDC there is an issue where some metadata uses the name ACDC and others AC/DC which results in 2 artist collections for the same artist. The issue of getting all albums into 1 artist's collection can be accomplished by editing the file's metadata, however there does not appear to be a way to delete the duplicated entries, ie. I change the metadata from band name AC/DC to ACDC and I now have the same album appearing under 2 artists.

This could be caused by having both names names appearing somewhere in the list of tags of the various files but in the case of the album High Voltage I have checked every file's tags 1 & 2 and that is not the case. I have reset database and rescanned everything repeatedly.
***

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. need to collect several ACDC albums and run Elisa
2.
3.

OBSERVED RESULT
As discussed above and shown in the 2 attachments

EXPECTED RESULT
That when metadata is changed, it is reflected in the output of Elisa and the incorrect or old data is purged.

So you can verify that all affects tracks to have "AC/DC" listed in their artist tags?

Are you using the "fast native indexer" or the "scan the filesystem directly" indexer?

If you're using the native indexer, can you run `balooshow <file path>` in a terminal window on one of the tracks to see what information the indexer has for it? I wonder if it's out of date.

terminal output of balooshow

Here is the balooshow for all songs on the album which all show the correct album and band name. I use the fast native indexer in Elisa.

So everything now is as it should be, close this ticket. The biggest issue to report that was behind many of the problems I think was just age, me, the albums, the poor condition of some of the metadata site information, the transition from Windows years ago and the extra metadata tags I picked up over decades. Cleaning, deleting and adding manually fixed everything.

Oh good!
