Hi! Can you send us the file you were working with? It looks like it's corrupting the internal state of Krita, hence why the hang.
It is not a specific file. In most of the cases I create a new file from clipboard.

I have also encountered this crash repeatedly. Mostly when doing quick edits of screenshots, and trying to copy the background layer to paste into another program Also looks to me like Bug 461554 is another report of the same issue.
