SUMMARY
***
Add support for mp4 video geotags
***

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

It would be really nice to add support for Geotags in mp4 video.
As far as I understand support for read/write in kexiv2 should be present, thumbnails should also be easy to generate.
Are there any problems that need to be adressed first?

Thank you!

Thanks for your request!

I never thought about adding support to video files until now. I'll have to investigate this (speaking about the kexiv2 support, this would be the conditio sine qua non in each case). Will exiv2 create an XMP sidecar file for videos? A video doesn't have an Exif header, does it?

Question is how applicable this would be? Whilst shooting a video, you can move around, so one would have to tag some kind of area or a whole path, no?

Anyway, this is principally interesting. I'll have a look art this.

Thank you for considering it!
I am not sure about the technical details but exiftool writes and reades embedded tags, not sure if QuickTime or XMP or both
The way I have seen phones and drones do it is tag the starting point of the video only
