SUMMARY *** I have 20 albums of a famous band but Elisa only recognises 13 of them. The 7 albums not only are not recognised by Elisa they cannot be played manually by Elisa through the right click menu. (1 artist example) *** STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Scan for music using both methods or 2. Right click album folder and open using Elise OBSERVED RESULT For 1 there is no entry. For 2 nothing happens EXPECTED RESULT For 1 I expect the album to appear in the list of albums For 2 I expect it to play the album SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: Kubuntu 22.10 KDE Plasma Version: 5.25.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.98.0 Qt Version: 5.15.6 Kernel Version: 5.19.0-29-generic (64-bit) Graphics Platform: X11 Processors: 16 × AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 8-Core Processor Memory: 15.5 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti/PCIe/SSE2 Manufacturer: Micro-Star International Co., Ltd. Product Name: MS-7C35 System Version: 2.0 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION I use/prefer the baloo indexing method and the individual songs of the missing albums are indexed by baloo. Over time many of the album folders have accumulated non music files like jpg and desktop.ini. This seems not to matter as some album folders without these extra files are recognised by Elisa. An individual song can be searched and found from the missing albums.

Created attachment 155944 [details] capture 2 After some further investigation I have reduced the number of not recognised albums to 1. Although things are still far from right as shown in the 2 attachments as the albums are split between 2 artists despite them being the same artist. For some albums to be recognised a .jpg file needs to be added to the folder although this is not universally necessary as sometimes Elisa supplies it own artwork from somewhere.
> After some further investigation I have reduced the number of not recognised albums to 1 How did you do it?
As I said in my last post I found some albums once I realised some had been put in another artist, ie. some albums are in artist ACDC and others in artist AC/DC, also some are in both. Once I had a combined list I added a Format.jpg file to each album folder that did not have this file and did a reset database and rescan everything. This is the album it won't recognise: https://www.discogs.com/release/673094-ACDC-High-Voltage. Of note, this is the band's first album only released in Australia and New Zealand and an album with the same name but different tracks was released internationally (first international album) at a later date. That said, the above link shows the proper catalogue numbers etc.
After further investigation I have now edited the metadata and got Elisa to detect all albums. Part of the problem relates to a "deal" when I originally purchased this album decades ago back in the '70s when an additional track(s) were released/sold with the album and some problems with the metadata data in the metadata files I used from Discogs. So the problem appears not to be an Elisa problem and this bug can be closed because it is not a bug. It would be helpful though if this metadata issue could be referenced somewhere in the scant app documentation.
Yeah Elisa relies on music having correct metadata. It also supports a usage mode that doesn't require this: the "Files" view that simply lets you browse the filesystem. Seems like in your case the metadata mode was the better choice, and now your music is correctly tagged. Awesome!
