SUMMARY *** "Sort by" -> "Rating" correctly sorts by rating. After closing gwenview and starting it again, however, this option is still selected as indicated in the drop-down menu "Menu" -> "Sort by". This suggests that the current folder is sorted by rating. In fact, however, the sorting is by name, not by rating: Only clicking on the (apparently already activated) "rating" entry of the pop-up will actually sort by rating. The exactly same problem occurs with other sort options (e.g., "size") too. *** STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Use dolphin to go to an folder with some image files. Assign ratings to them (either with dolphin or gwenview). 2. Click on one of the files to start gwenview. Switch to "Browse", and select "Menu" -> "Sort by" -> "Rating". 3. Close gwenview and start again to show an image of the image folder. Switch to "Browse" mode. OBSERVED RESULT The drop-down menu "Menu" -> "Sort by" shows that "Rating" is selected. It therefore seems to remember the setting of the previous session. However, the images are not sorted by rating, but by name. EXPECTED RESULT The images should be sorted by rating.

At step 3, you did not specify how exactly you start gwenview. I cannot reproduce if I open gwenview by clicking an image from dolphin. Also, cannot reproduce when starting gwenview from start menu, then going to recent files, select some file, then switch to browse. However, the issue is still there. Step 3 should be read as: 3. Close gwenview, then start Gwenview from start menu, then go to folder containing rated images [it is already in Browse mode]. The same happens in gwenview 25.04.0 when I leave it at sorting by name, but select "Descending" order. I close gwenview, then start it again (from the start menu), it shows the recent folders on startup (because it's apparently incapable of starting in the last used folder), and when I select the most recent folder it shows files in ascending order despite "Descending" being selected. To get it to sort in descending order I have to deselect "Descending" and re-select "Descending", which is really annoying.
