Description tim 2023-01-28 17:40:07 UTC
SUMMARY
***
When using Quick Tile (e.g. Meta+Right to tile window to the right edge of the screen) there is no animation, so it appears abrupt and out of place.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open a window
2. Click on the window to activate it
3. Use Meta+Right and Meta+Left to tile the window to either side of the screen.

OBSERVED RESULT

Window moves jarringly to either side.

EXPECTED RESULT

Window movement should follow the animations of Maximize, Overview etc.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

This is purely a UX / aesthetic thing, but it would make the Plasma experience more pleasant to add a scaling or rubberband effect for tiling-related actions.

It was in progress at some point with https://invent.kde.org/plasma/kwin/-/merge_requests/583, but it looks like the author abandoned the work.
