Description Marco 2023-01-26 08:29:24 UTC
SUMMARY
I am using Plasma on X11.

When opening a window on the laptop screen (15 inches, 1920x1200), and then moving it with a shortcut to the external monitor (24 inches, 1920x1080), the window text and elements become blurry. This only happens when the window is moved instantly via a shortcut. If instead I drag the window from the laptop screen to the external monitor, everything is fine.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open a window on the laptop screen (I guess, any screen with a higher pixel density than the other screen would work)
2. Move the window to the lower-density screen with a shortcut.

OBSERVED RESULT
The window is now blurry on the other screen

EXPECTED RESULT
The window should adapt to the new pixel-density, and look normal

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Fedora 37
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.26.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.102.0
Qt Version: 5.15.8

Are you using any screen scaling?

Does it work properly on Wayland?
Comment 2 Marco 2023-01-28 11:17:45 UTC
I am not using any screen scaling. I do not know whether Wayland ahs this issue. I will check. But definitely, it is an issue in X11.
Comment 3 Marco 2023-01-28 11:22:06 UTC
I can confirm that on Wayland I have the same issue.

https://invent.kde.org/plasma/kwin/-/commit/e8d5f1e62de979f35c37cf5cd05dc049555a0673 may improve things, there were also other fixes in 5.27. It would be nice to know if 5.27 fixes it

I cannot reproduce the bug anymore on Plasma 5.27. It seems to have been fixed.
