Description Albert Zeyer 2023-01-23 10:49:33 UTC
When I restart my computer, and it recovers the session, including multiple windows of Chrome, the order of the Chrome window icons in the Task Manager are not the same as before the restart.

I'm not exactly sure if this is the fault of Chrome or of KDE. It's just pretty annoying nevertheless...

Are you using the X11 session or the Wayland session? And on what distro?
Comment 2 Nate Graham 2023-01-24 18:55:02 UTC
And can you confirm that you're using the Task Manager with text, rather than the Icons-Only Task Manager?
Comment 3 Albert Zeyer 2023-01-24 23:25:00 UTC
I use X11, on Ubuntu 22.04.

I only see icons without text in the task manager. I'm not sure why this is relevant though. I would still expect that it preserves the order, also in that case.

Could you attach screenshots of your panel and task manager before restarting and after, so I can see it? Thanks!
Comment 5 Albert Zeyer 2023-01-25 16:51:37 UTC
But all icons look the same, it's always the Chrome icon. There is no difference visually at this point.

Do you have grouping turned off? Are the Chrome windows pinned to the Task manager?

I'm not sure if I have turned grouping off. But that were just 5 windows or so, and they were not grouped together.

I pinned one Chrome window to the taskbar such that it is visible even when it is not running.

Can you please verify a few things?
- Are Tasks configured to be in manual order? (If so, this is Bug 389649)

If not...
- Is grouping on or off?
- Are you using the Task Manager or Icons-Only Task Manager?
- Are these Chrome windows actual windows of the Chrome web browser, or Chrome Web Apps?

I'm not sure. In the Task Manager Settings, under Behavior, Sort is set to Manually, and "Keep launchers separate" is enabled.

But then it sounds like this is Bug 389649?

> If not...
> - Is grouping on or off?

Grouping is off.

> - Are you using the Task Manager or Icons-Only Task Manager?

I'm not sure. How can I check? I just see icons.

> - Are these Chrome windows actual windows of the Chrome web browser, or
> Chrome Web Apps?

Actual windows of the Chrome web browser.
