SUMMARY After upgrading to Plasma 5.26.90 I cannot change the Power profile anymore. Some events can still trigger a change (e.g. connecting laptop to AC after setting , but the moment the profile is manually changed, it is not possible to change it again. This issue is not just a "visual" bug in the battery and brightness panel. Trying to change the power profile with keyboard shortcuts (Fn + H, Fn + M, Fn + L) or writing to /sys/firmware/acpi/platform_profile is also blocked somehow by Plasma. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Try to change power profile OBSERVED RESULT It doesn't work anymore. Here is a video showing the issue. https://drive.switch.ch/index.php/s/GOHdgdKGOGdvXOY SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: Arch Linux KDE Plasma Version: 5.26.90 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.102.0 Qt Version: 5.15.8 Kernel Version: 6.1.7-arch1-1 (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland Processors: 8 × 11th Gen Intel® Core™ i5-1135G7 @ 2.40GHz Memory: 15.4 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: Mesa Intel® Xe Graphics Manufacturer: LENOVO Product Name: 20XYCTO1WW System Version: ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 6 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION I just saw that there has been also a recent kernel upgrade doing some changes to thinkpad_acpi. Unfortunately, I upgraded both Plasma and linux at the same time. I will try old kernels to double check that this is indeed a Plasma bug and not a kernel bug.
Maybe this was a one time weird event? I cannot replicate anymore neither with latest kernel version nor with previous versions. I will keep the report open for a few more days, if I don't observe the issue anymore I will close it.
Before I forgot to reboot after upgrading kernel again. This is clearly an issue that started with linux 6.1.7, not Plasma's fault.
