I did the same on the exact same version of ChromeOS but couldn't reproduce. Can you tell me from what section of The Files app are you opening the file from? E.g My Files > Downloads, Google Drive > My Drive etc

I tried opening "My Files > Krita_beginner_tests > ukko_aurinko.kra". I
double clicked on the file and it opens Krita but Krita says "The file
content://org.chromium.arc.volumeprovider/0000000000000000000CAFEF00D2019/Krita_beginner_tests/ukko_aurinko.kra
does not exist" (the amount of 0s might not be correct because i can't copy
paste the error message from Krita.)

Krita_external_storage.png

Hi, the link to file from Krita seems to be different than the link in the
"Files" app. I don't know if this information helps you.

Thanks for your comment!

Automatically switching the status of this bug to REPORTED so that the KDE team
knows that the bug is ready to get confirmed.

In the future you may also do this yourself when providing needed information.

I have to suspect this might be due to ChromeOS's very unreliable File Manager. If you try to open a PNG stored in Krita_beginner_tests in an app which you downloaded from the Play Store, does it open? But it has to be opened in a similar fashion (i.e from the Files app, not within the app).

Just to confirm, does the file open file if you use Open File dialog within Krita?

Yes, The file opens from Krita's open file dialog.

Hello, I'm closing this bug as this is due to an upstream bug, there is a report for it already on ChromeOS's bug tracker but apparently they haven't picked it up yet :(
