SUMMARY Playing Need for Speed Heat via Wayland on my system for hours might cause the PC to become unresponsive, and I have to reset it. Happened 3 times by now. It recently started happening. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Play NFS Heat via Steam using Wayland OBSERVED RESULT The screen initially freezes, but the game music continues to play. Then, black screen. After that, the screen comes back, but glitched, and the audio starts looping, and the system becomes completely unresponsive until I reset it. EXPECTED RESULT None of this, just smooth gameplay SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma KDE Plasma Version: 5.26.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.101.0 Qt Version: 5.15.8 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION AMD Ryzen 5 5600, 16GB DDR4, RX 5700, Mesa RADV driver. Running Steam via the `steam` package and NFS Heat via Proton Experimental. I use Wayland and Freesync, with a second, disabled display (1080p@60, no VRR support on that one)
>audio starts looping, That implies a lower level issue than kwin. Please check your system logs from the previous boot. (journalctl -b -1) Also check for coredumps from kwin_wayland. There isn't anything actionable we can do with this bug report at present.
