Description jgforbes 2023-01-08 18:42:20 UTC
SUMMARY
Upon upgrading Fedora 36 to packages that include Kernel-6.0.16, after logging in to my normal user they kde startup screen with black background and three dots next to a greater than symbol (>) displays. The spinning gear stops and the num key and caps lock key no longer light up the LEDs on the keyboard. Reset button required to reboot. A new user can
login fine. Nothing in the log file to indicate what may be hanging. Must be an issue with some configuration, but I have not been able to tell where it might be.

Darn, sorry to hear that. What other packages were included in that update? Any chance you can upgrade to Fedora 37 and try again?

Many packages were upgraded, most of them were KDE related. I uploaded a file with all of the file names.

I am afraid that upgrading to Fedora 37 will break other things things.
I am not ready to do that.

How does one backup kde configuration and start fresh?
A new user on kernel 6.0.16 does not have this issue.

The problem resolved with kernel 6.0.18-200.
